The book "Ideals of Christian Life" opens up a series of selected works of the famous Russian spiritual writer and historian Evgeny Nikolaevich Pogozhev (pseudo. Ostelinan), (1870-1930) Knowing deeply the Orthodox spiritual literature and its genres, as well as possibly owning the “church style” well, the writer was able to express the complex theological concepts, psychologically colorfully painfully paint the elderly events and create the memorable portraits of his heroes in the impressionist manner. The best works of the settler contain thoughts about the truths of faith and the experience of life in the Church and the moral and psychological justification of Orthodoxy, for he tried to reflect the mood of his believing Christian soul in the paintings of his worldly life. And this pious and sincere soul of the author himself fills his books, in which it is clearly visible how the Russian man of his saints and his native Orthodoxy loves, how great the thirst for eternal salvation and holiness of life "spiritual thirst, the thirst for something higher and the best, more Wide and more exciting than the earth with its joys, burns a folk soul, not only the souls of great chosen ones, but also the souls of ordinary people ...
