The book is a textbook on the course of the “History of the Christian Church” for classes with students of the initial stage of the Sunday school and is part of a single educational-methodical kit for Sunday schools. The manual is addressed to children 9-10 years old. In this regard, the system of presentation of historical material is not entirely traditional and designed for children who do not yet study history as an educational subject in a comprehensive school.
The manual is called upon: to give students an understanding that the Church has an ancient origin and rich history, based on the biographies of the Church and Saints, to show an example of love for God, people and homeland, persistence in faith, to help students in the acquisition of church life skills .
The book can be recommended as additional literature in the study of religious subjects in elementary grades of Orthodox schools and gymnasiums, as well as in studying the course Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture in elementary schools of secondary schools
