The book contains the text of the great repentant canon of St. Andrew Cretan, read entirely on the fifth week of Great Lent, translations of the Irmos and the troparies of the canon into Russian, as well as comments, which reveals the meaning of obscure Church Slavonic words and phrases and catechism, alternative explanations are given. At the beginning of the book, brief essays about the "Blessed Crying" were placed, about the Great Canon and its compiler.
The publication is intended, first of all, for those who take the first steps in understanding church prayers, the foundations of Christian creed and spiritual life. The book will also be useful for those who have already listened or read the great canon for many years, but incorrectly (or not quite correctly) understand the meaning of some words and expressions found in it.
