The book includes the liturgical texts necessary for the Orthodox Christian during the Great Lent: the great repentant canon of Andrei of Crete, read in the first four days of fasting, then the entire text of the canon, as it is read in the service called the "Standing of Maria Egyptian" and the life of Maria Egyptian, as well as the following of the holy passions of the Lord with the reading of twelve passionate gospels.
The book is useful in the service for a better understanding of what is happening in the temple, and is also necessary for those who, for some reason, cannot be present in the service.
