The allowance for the first time in Russian literature gives a single outline of the development of the Christian Church (in the significance of a discrete system of different faiths and denominations) as a social institution from the time of its formation to the present. The development of church institutions is considered from the point of view of the dynamics of their organizational unity. Volume 2 covers the period from the beginning of the Protestant Reformation to the present - the time of progressive degradation of the institutional unity of Christianity. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of ecumenism and its perception in Western and Eastern Christianity. The book 1 considers the organizational crisis of the church structure, which has called into question not only the Catholic (in the form of the organizational confrontation based on the earnest discrepancies of both the Orthodox Church System and numerous reformation movements), but also the Orthodox (in the form of ethnicophiletism and autocephalism) of the world. The main question of the period under consideration: "where (i.e. in accordance with the creed of which organizational structure) to believe in order to be saved? ”
