The allowance for the first time in Russian literature gives a single outline of the development of the Christian Church (in the significance of a discrete system of different faiths and denominations) as a social institution from the time of its formation to the present. The development of church institutions is considered from the point of view of the dynamics of their organizational unity. Volume 2 covers the period from the beginning of the Protestant Reformation to the present - the time of progressive degradation of the institutional unity of Christianity. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of ecumenism and its perception in Western and Eastern Christianity. Book 2 describes the current state of the multiconfessional Christian world, faced with a significant resistance to secular society with any "traditional" religious values - first in the form of modernism, then secular globalism. One of the results of this confrontation was the organizational crisis of modern institutional Christianity, stimulated both by external influence and a number of intra -church processes. The main question of the period under consideration: "Is it necessary to believe at all?"
