Before you is a book telling about the abbess Tamara (1890-1979), nee Princess of Imperial Blood Tatyana Konstantinovna, in marriage-Princess of Bagration-Maurs. The fate of this beautiful woman, who belonged to the Russian imperial house and brought up in a highly cultural family, who found a short happiness in love and survived incredibly difficult trials, is amazing and instructive. It serves as an example of stamina, deep faith and genuine philanthropy. But, unfortunately, the life path and spiritual achievements of Tatyana Konstantinovna are still little -known.
She was the eldest daughter of the great prince Konstantin Konstantinovich (1858-1915) and Grand Duchess Elizabeth Mavrikievna (1865-1927) The godfather of Princess Tatyana was Grand Duke Sergey Alexandrovich. In 1911, Tatyana married Prince Konstantin Aleksandrovich Bagration-Maurs (1889-1915) From this marriage, she had children: Teimuraz and Natalia. But in 1915, her husband heroically fell in the war, and after the tragic events that overwhelmed Russia in 1917, Tatyana Konstantinovna had to emigrate with the children and the colonel A.V. Korochentsov (1877-1922) to the west, to Switzerland.
After more than two decades of being in exile, Tatyana Konstantinovna in 1946 in Geneva took monastic tonsure with the name Tamara and moved to the Holy Land, to Jerusalem. Here, in Gepsimania, she began a monastic life, and in 1951 she continued her on Elite Gora. Having become the abbess of the Holy Voznesensky monastery, she ruled it for many years and died in this monastery in 1979.
In this publication, for the first time, an attempt was made to comprehend the difficult fate of Princess Tatyana Konstantinovna, to tell about the monastic life of the monk Tamara in the Gethsemane monastery and about the multilateral activity of the Tamara Igumeni in the monastery on the Elekogo Gora. The memoirs of the pupils of Mother Tamara, used in writing a book, allow you to raise a curtain over the deep spiritual world of this, perhaps the most famous Russian abbess of the 20th century on the Holy Land.
This book, the Sergiev Memorial Fund continues the new cycle of publications dedicated to Russian ascetics, who had been striving on the Holy Land and found their last shelter there
