The Russian detective of the German police, Countess Elizaveta Nikolaevna Apraksina, again faces an unusual business. The Russian emigrant-a failed artist, an adventurer and a convinced hero-lover-was found dead in his own apartment under the most mysterious circumstances. To find the killer, the countess has to investigate the heroic mechanics of the hero over his women.
