The book proposed to the attention of the reader is today the most complete collection of teachings of the Monk Anthony the Great, the greatest ascetic of the 3rd-IV centuries. The collection is attached to the life of Anthony the Great, compiled by his student, St. Athanasius of Alexandria, as well as the brief lives of the disciples of the Monk (Macarius the Great, Macarius of Alexandria, Ammon of Nitrian, Pavel of the Pond, Hilarion of the Great and others) and some other materials on the history of ancient monasticism. The collection is equipped with comments.
