Until now, Buddhism has not been investigated in the framework of the philosophy of education, and meanwhile, in this tradition, for two and a half thousand years, education has been carefully cultivated and reflected. The thesis of the author of the book consists in the fact that Buddhism was essentially an education - continuous, duration of life, adult education. Therefore, the study presented in the monograph is devoted to “read Buddhism again” - to consider it in the aspect of the philosophy of education and identify educational models available in the Buddhist tradition, which will allow readers who are quite familiar with Buddhism to discover new ways and horizons in the understanding Buddhist tradition.
The book is built on the Buddhist materials of the South (Theravada) and the Northern (Mahayana) traditions, contains many quotes and fragments of texts that directly introduce the reader into the field of Buddhist thought and educational practice. A number of problems and ideas raised in the proposed study of the Buddhist tradition were understood by the author in relation to the modern world and education in a wide context.
Since the field of education is becoming increasingly important in the world of the new millennium, the Buddhist educational model can be of considerable interest for philosophers, theorists and educational figures, as well as all those who think about education issues
