The book is a collection of translations into Russian of extremely important monuments of Buddhist religious thought - Buddhist sutr. All translations are made by the best domestic experts in this field of knowledge. In the introduction to the book, the compiler traces the evolution of Sutr as a specific genre of literature. The genetic connections of various currents within Buddhism with the preaching of the Buddha Shakyamuni himself are shown. A number of sutr are published in Russian for the first time. Also, for the first time since 1870, the famous "Praitmiksh Sutra" is reprinted, which is a set of rules of behavior of the Buddhist monk.
