The end of the 9th century. The Grand Duke Svyatoslav died. His heir was the eldest son of Yaropolk. But the younger brother Vladimir, born of a slave, resorting to deception, killed a legal ruler and took his pregnant wife in concubines. Even in those rude times, Vladimir’s act looked too immoral. After some time, the son of Yaropolk Svyatopolk was born. To reassure the combatants and boyars, Vladimir was forced to declare Svyatopolk his son. But Svyatopolk turned out to be older than the sons of Vladimir and therefore had full legal right to his father"s table
