The author of the work is a wonderful Russian writer A.N. Bakhmeteva. One of the educated women of her time, an honorary member of the Society of Lovers of Russian Literature, Alexander Nikolaevna, being a deeply believers, devoted her whole life to educational activities, wrote books of spiritual content for children and ordinary people.
One of its main works was the History of the Christian Church for Children. “History is a teacher of life,” the ancients said. Getting acquainted with the history of the Church, we learn life in Christ, in accordance with the gospel truths, affirming love, sacrifice, peace, consent. And church history is not only the study of the institution of the church, it is the history of human society in general, the history of the path of its spiritual and moral development. From now on, the historical paths of entire peoples, their culture and statehood, are inextricably linked with the history of Christianity.
The book covers the period from the apostolic times of the creation of Christ Church until the middle of the XI century, when the split between the East and the West laid the foundation for a new period in church history. The author devotes a special place to study the issue of church communication between Rome and Byzantium, covers the history of universal cathedrals and the fight against heresies, pages dedicated to the formation of the Christian Church in Britain, Spain, Scandinavia, and the atmosphere of medieval Europe visually recreate.
