"... almost no outstanding phenomenon of church life of the II century was without the participation of St. Irenaeus of Lyons. Such a person cannot but be of interest to the history of the church. The principles and views that he revealed and defended in his creations St. Father, also underlie the creed of our Orthodox to the Church. We accept the canon of St. Books of the New Testament, church legend as a source of creed along with St. Scripture, we recognize the highest authority of the bishops, and we keep, in essence, the same views and other dogmatic issues (with the exception of chiliasm), which are revealed in the essay against heresies. The life and teachings of Irenaeus for us, the Orthodox, are therefore represented by even more interest and significance. S. A. Fedchenkov
