A small treatise Should a Christian run away from the deadly plague? (1527) It is the thoughts of Martin Luther about whether the Christian should, according to the teachings of the Gospel, run away during mortal danger, escaping from the then -raging plague. These thoughts were written as a response to the letter of the Protestant pastor from Breslau Johanna Hess, in which he asked the advice of the head of the Reformation on this issue. However, Luther’s answer to Pastor Hesse stretched for eight months, and eventually turned into a real sermon, which Luther read from the church department in Wittenberg on September 15, 1527.
According to the plan of compilers and publishers, this composition should contribute to a better understanding of both the history of the reformation and the spiritual warehouse of the very initiator of this greatest movement of church and world history. Designed for students and teachers, as well as for all those interested in the history and theology of Protestantism
