A leather binding, a torchonated cut, lies.
"The most sacred word" - this is how Nikolai Konstantinovich Roerich (1874-1947) defined Shambhala. The search for this "stronghold of great knowledge and light", the artist and philosopher devoted a significant part of his life. Roerich created an amazing and mysterious world on his canvases. The same mysterious - but at the same time tangible and real - appears Shambhala in his literary works. The proposed publication included two works of Nikolai Roerich dedicated to the legendary country, lost in the mountains of Tibet, - "Shambhala Shining" and "Heart of Asia. Fenugreek". The book was supplemented by selected articles from the collection of essays and aphorisms of "gates into the future". The work of "Shambhala Shining" is written in the form of a dialogue reminiscent of the works of Plato and other ancient Greek philosophers and is designed in the concept of the “other history of the world”. “In addition to historians, another history of the world is written,” Roerich said. The first, visible, plan - ancient legends and real information obtained during expeditions. But behind this, like the Great Himalayas and Tibet, there are thoughts of cosmic evolution, spiritualized space, which Nikolai Roerich saw him. The same topic, only sustained in a more "mundane" form, is also devoted to the essay of Shambala from the Book of Asia, written based on the materials of the Central Asian expedition. Selected essays from the collection of "gates to the future" are the philosopher’s thoughts about the eternal issues of being and burning problems: about the preservation of cultural heritage, about the education of youth, about the role and place of an individual in the development of civilization
