Kenosis, the self -abasement of Christ through the vocrate and voluntary acceptance of suffering is one of the key concepts of Christianity. Dirk Uffelmann considers both the Orthodox embodiments of the normative model of positive renunciation of himself, as well as secular imitations to them in Russian culture.
