Kalu Rinpoche (1915-1989), the great Buddhist teacher and master of meditation, was born in Eastern Tibet and studied there in monasteries and centers of hermings. For many years he was in solitude in deserted mountainous areas. Then he was called upon to return to the monastery to give teachings and instruct in practice. Rinpoche left the country and settled in India a few years before China captured Tibet. Since that time, he traveled a lot, transmitting teachings and basing centers in Asia, Europe and North America, where his tradition is supported by his tradition of meditation practice
