V.N. Ilyin - Russian philosopher, theologian and composer. The book of V.N. Ilyin is a great commentary on the services of a passionate week and the holiday of the Resurrection of Christ, revealing the beauty and the depth of theology of liturgical texts. The author calls the days of the memoirs of the cross of Jesus and the bright Easter joy “the meaning and happiness of personal life, its fullness and the best decoration, for which it is worth living in the world and carrying the burden of worldly sorrows.” According to the author of the “Service of the Holy Week and Easter, are connected with the resolution of the greatest and most important issues: about the essence of suffering and death, about getting rid of them, about redeeming (salvation) about resurrection and eternal life. The liturgical resolution of these problems gives a direct answer to the question: what is the essence of Christianity. ”
The first edition was published in 1926 in Paris. In preparation for this publication, the text of the book was equipped with bibliographic instructions, monuments of ancient Christian art were used as illustrations.
