There is a group of five biblical texts - Megilot - having a special status in the Jewish tradition: they are customary to read in the synagogue on holidays.
We tried to give an idea of the significance and depths of these scrolls, providing new translations with a wide range of comments and interpretations of interest to today"s reader. The following components are present in our publication:
1. Original text in Hebrew.
2. New translation into Russian.
3. Targum - translation (approximately 1 century AD) into Aramaic, which includes components of allegorical commentary and traditions.
4. Rashi commentary. Rashi texts are equipped with auxiliary modern comment.
5. The through commentary of one of the most important commentators is Ibn Yahya (1492-1539).
6. Collections of comments: Direct meaning (pshat) and allegorical (drams): From the midrash of the Tanaev era to the works of modern researchers.
7. Realities and language. Contains clarifications of the historical, geographical and ethnological aspects of scripture, as well as the characteristics of the language.
