Metropolitan Pitimit (Nechaev, 1926-2003) was one of the significant hierarchs of the Russian Church of the second half of the twentieth century. The professor of the MDA, the preacher, public figure, he created and headed the publishing department of the Moscow Patriarchate, and established the regular issue of the journal of the Moscow Patriarchate and theological works. Under him, the publication of the Bible and liturgical mines began. He was one of the first to appear in television programs, bringing the voice of the Church to millions of listeners of the country. The first began to give a course of theological lectures at a secular university. The first to open the Bible Museum in the Joseph-Volotsky monastery.
Vladyka Pitimim did not leave his memories, but on the slope of days he willingly shared them with his two referents, T.L. Alexandrova and T.V. Suzdaltseva, who, understanding the value of his stories, recorded them and, after death, deciphered and created the book proposed to the reader. They also wrote their memories of the Lord and recorded a number of his sermons in recent years. All this generally gives a capacious, vivid idea of the era, the life of the Church in the middle and second half of the twentieth century and the scale of the personality of Metropolitan Pitirim
