Basin (1793-1877) For this decade, one of the most interesting periods of the life of the Russian art colony in Rome has been one of the most interesting periods. However, in the existing scientific literature on the artist, this stage of his work is not enough illuminated. The preserved archival sources will allow in detail the circumstances of the artist’s life in Italy, and the study of materials related to the artistic life of Rome of the designated decade is to recreate the cultural and historical context, which formed the creative personality of the young artist who later became a professor of the Imperial Academy of Arts
