The reader is offered a new, redesigned collection of letters from St. Anthony (Putilov) - one of the most striking Optina ascetics of the 19th century. The publication was taken as a basis: letters of abbot Anthony. M.: Ed. The Vvedensky Optina Desert, 1869. In the preparation of this book, archival studies were conducted, as a result of which errors discovered in the previous publication were corrected, additions were made, and in some cases the names of addresses were established.
The creations of each of the Optina Rev. Fathers and Elders have a special originality. So are the letters of the Monk Anthony. The Rev. with a simple example can simultaneously delicately expose and at the same time console the suffering soul. In his words you will not hear a reproach or formidable denunciation. Letters are distinguished by especially softness and sensitivity in relation to a person. The spirit of meekness and humility inherent in the ascetic was clearly reflected in his letters
