The book is devoted to one of the denominations of Judaism - the so -called progressive, or reformist, Judaism, as well as its characteristics in Russia, the identity of its followers and a number of factors contributing to its spread. Although reformist Judaism is still relatively little common in Russia, abroad, especially in the USA, it is the largest denomination of Judaism. This topic has almost not been studied in our country and abroad, so the book is innovative, it introduces new materials into scientific circulation regarding the history of reformist Judaism and its state in the Russian Federation.
The book is built mainly on the field materials of the author, the applications contain texts of several interviews with rabbis and members of the reformist community, as well as tables and graphs compiled by a survey conducted in a reformist community.
The book is of interest to historians, social anthropologists, sociologists, religious scholars, Judaic specialists, as well as for students studying in these specialties
