The Book of the Holy Scriptures Psalter - a collection of poetic prayers - was translated from the Hebrew language into Greek in the 3rd century. BC, and in the 9th century Enlighteners of the Slavs Cyril and Methodius literally shifted it to Slavic. Psalms and excerpts from them make up a significant part of the church’s worship. The modern Orthodox Church Slavonic text by Psaltyri is not quite understandable, it does not facilitate the understanding and synodal translation of the Bible into Russian, made from Hebrew and significantly different. The real Russian translation of Psalter is made with the Greek original by the authoritative translator of liturgical texts by Hieromonk Ambrose (Timrot)
