The psalter is a biblical book of the Old Testament, consisting of 150 psalms, or sacred songs.
The content of the psalter is rich and diverse: in it everyone can find exactly what corresponds to the state of his soul. There are prophecies in it about Christ, and repentance, and the praise of God. There is also a pious custom to read the psalter in memory of the dead. Reading Psalti at all times was considered a matter of extremely heartbreaking and pleasing God.
