But the deceased none of this is needed. In the church understanding, the memory of the deceased is a prayer memory. The basis of such a church memory is the prayer addressed to God, the Mother of God, to the saints - the saints of God. The Holy Church calls us, alive, to pray for the deceased, for they no longer have the opportunity to pray for themselves. We must pray for the forgiveness of their sins and for the rest of their souls in the abode of heaven, pray that the good memory of God for them is eternal
