Four -volume monograph “Prayer of Jesus. The experience of two millennia ”is a fundamental research work, which is part of the publishing project of Nikolai Novikov“ The Way of Smart work ”. The work is devoted to the study of various aspects of prayer practice in the Orthodox tradition, contains an analytical review of the patristic heritage and writings of the ascetic of piety. The first two volumes are devoted to issues of a more general nature, the instructions and thoughts of shepherds and ascetics are collected here, stored by tradition from ancient times, and at the same time, the opportunity to compare them with the teachings of the fathers of our time was given. The third and fourth volumes specify and develop topics directly related to prayer practice. Books consider such issues as the teachings of henshams about the internal feat of the Holy Surveillance, the laws of spiritual development, the principles of leadership of patristic scriptures. Particular importance is attached to the problem of transition from verbal prayer to smart, as well as methods for controlling attention and combining the mind with the heart.
