As in the case of the five previous posthumous editions of Claude Levy-Strass in the series “The XXI Century Library”, this volume, representing a forty-year-old “correspondence” with Roman Jacobson, would never have been born if it were not for the enthusiasm of Monica Levi-Stro: her enthusiasm and her Close attention to each word. Having agreed to prepare this volume for the press, write a preface and comments with applications for him, Emmanuel Luaye and Patrice Manilier restore all his contexts for each of the letters - scientific, historical, political and personal.
