The book of the famous American religious scholar James Sherman Kutzinger (1953–2020) is a course of lectures that he read at the University of South Carolina. The main attention in the work is paid to non -Christian religions, less familiar to the general public in traditionally Christian countries: Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Judaism, Islam and traditional beliefs of the North American Indians. In his lectures, Kutzinger does not seek to give a systematic description of these religions, but rather tries to introduce listeners and readers to the most vivid key ideas and characteristics of teachings and practices.
