Vladimir Ludwigovich Kign-Dedlov (1856-1908), writer, literary critic, art critic, traveler. Published in the magazines “Niva,“ Russian wealth ”,“ Observer ”and others. The author of many stories, stories, and travel essays. He served as an official of special assignments for resettlement matters. In 1896, Dedlov achieved a business trip to Siberia in places where the construction of the Trans -Siberian Railway was carried out. The expedition lasted more than a year and covered Eastern and Western Siberia, the Far East and the countries of Asia, through which the author returned to Russia by sea. The result of the trip was the essay book Panorama of Siberia (1900) The writer spoke in detail about natural conditions, ethnic diversity, local mentality, drew attention to the problems of mastering a huge territory: undeveloped transport communication, a careless attitude to cultural monuments and natural resources, and the heavy life of immigrants. The book has many interesting facts from the past Siberian villages and cities (Tobolsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok, Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk, etc).
The new edition is supplemented by a preface, comments by L.V. Belovinsky
