Optina of deserts and its time

The book "Optina Deserts and its time" was written by the famous writer and theologian of the Russian abroad Ivan Mikhailovich Kontsevich (1893-1965) In the introductory chapters, the concept of old age is revealed and its history is traced in Russia in the XVIII - XIX centuries. The author pays particular attention to the life and exploits of the Monk Elders of Optinsky. The book contains their letters and teachings, the precious memories of contemporaries and spiritual children, including I. M. Kontsevich himself. His book is interesting, informative and instructive and is still very in demand by readers. Understanding how heartbreaking for any Orthodox reading is reprinting this work, providing it with the necessary notes and a nominal index.
