In 1935, Maxim Gorky became the initiator of the “World Day” campaign. In 1960, the Izvestia newspaper decided to resume it and appealed to writers of the whole world - it was necessary to describe in detail one day, September 27. Krista Wolf responded to this action, and since then describing in the most detailed way one day a year has become its own tradition.
"One day of the year" is a very personal and at the same time an objective book. It covers the events and experiences of a personal nature and all that the German (in particular, the Gader) intelligentsia experienced what was being followed. Publishing this peculiar diary, Cryste Wolf did not purposely censor those thoughts and reactions that today could compromise it. This book can be called a double document: the development of history first divided, then again united Germany and the development of a particular person. However, this document has great language expressiveness, which allows you to read it as good prose.
The book is coming out with the notes of Gerhard Wolf
