The attention of readers is proposed to the book of a famous German philosopher, historian, theologian and publicist David Strauss (1808-1874), in which he sets out criticism of Christian dogmas and poses two main questions: "Are we still Christians? And do we still have religion? " To the first question, he gives a unambiguously negative answer, to the second --- answer only in that case is positive, if a sense of dependence, humility and internal freedom arising from a pantheistic worldview is considered religion. The presentation of a new worldview breaks up at Strauss into two parts. Firstly, he shows what this worldview is, on what arguments it is based on, what are his characteristic features that distinguish him from old church views, and secondly, he tries to find out if this is a modern worldview of his adherents of the same service As adherents of the old faith --- their Christian doctrine, it is better or worse in this regard, and to what extent it can serve as a foundation for a truly human, that is, moral and, therefore, a happy life.
At the end of the work, there are two applications in which the author sets out his view of the work of great German poets and composers, analyzing that close connection that, in his opinion, exists between art and religion. The book also includes the biography of David Friedrich Strauss, composed by the German historian E. Aller.
The book is recommended for philosophers, historians, religious scholars, culturalists, and all interested readers
