The collection includes the statements and teachings of the famous Athos elder Joseph Isihast (1898-1959) Joseph Isihast is one of the main figures of Orthodox asceticism of the XX century. Despite the hermit lifestyle, he had a huge spiritual influence: on Athos, he was one of the main renewal of the lifestyle of Hesihasts, the dealers of Jesus prayer. After his death, the elder"s students spread his teaching on Athos, and then throughout Greece, in Cyprus, and up to North America. Joseph Isihast is canonized as the location of the saint on Athos.
