Initially, in the Commission on the translation of the New Testament into Russian at the St. Sergius Theological Institute in Paris, which Bishop Kassian headed from 1951 to 1964, it was supposed to only revise the synodal translation. However, over time, members of the commission came to the conclusion that the new Russian version of the New Testament part of the Bible. In the Kassian version of the New Testament, the achievements of biblical textology, the connection of the New Testament Greek Koyne with the Jewish and Aramaic languages were taken into account, as well as some changes that have occurred in the Russian language since the first publication of the synodal translation. The translation was completely published in 1970.
