The compiler of this book is one of the respected Athos elders, who, in humility, wished to remain an unknown. For more than 30 years, he collected and systematized the narratives and sayings reflecting the ascetic and Ishast tradition of the Holy Athos Mountain. His 800-page book, published on Athos in 2011, withstood several reprints. For the sake of the convenience of readers and with the blessing of the old man, the Russian translation comes out in three volumes - "biographies", "Tales of asceticism" and "stories of the Monk Elder Paisius and other holymen", which are united by the general name "New Athos Paterik".
The first volume of Paterica contains previously unknown lives of 25 Athos ascetics, for the most part of our senior contemporaries who please God in the middle of the 20th century.
