The parable is a short allegorical, instructive story.
The collection included one hundred one parable about the ancient desert fathers who lived since the 4th century in the deserts of Egypt, Palestine and other secluded places. This mysterious, unfamiliar world of ascetics opens in their wise deeds and statements. The elders were enlightened by the Holy Spirit and Love for God. And the light of this love in an incomprehensible way has survived to our days, transforming human hearts.
