The life of Russian monasticism on Athos in the XIX-XX centuries is highlighted in numerous printed works of writers, thinkers, scientists of different professions, in the publications of the spiritual works of Svyatogorsk inhabitants, in the editions of that time, which were made by the monastery printing of the Holy Panteleimonov, primarily in the journal “The heart-rending interlocutor , etc. Under the close attention of researchers and Orthodox believers, such outstanding personalities as the Monk Siluan Athos (Antonov), the Monk Aristocles (Ambrosiev), the Monk Ilarion Gruzin (Kanchali), the sciromons of Annikit (Shirinsky-shoematov), Sergius Svyatorets (Vesnin), the Rev. Schieromons Jerome Jerome (Solomensov), Schiarchimandrite Makarii (Sushkin), Schimona Matthew (Olshansky) and some others. However, there was still no publication that gives an idea of all the inhabitants of the Russian Holy Panteleimon monastery on Athos, their quantitative composition, various social characteristics and , which is especially important as the starting point of the study - containing brief biographical information about each of them
