Gellyaverdians called themselves the participants in the battle for the Gellyaverdynskaya heights at the Transcaucasian theater of military operations of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877–1878. Among them was the author of the memoirs-Efrem Solomonovich Muskhelov (b. 1852), a nobleman of the Tiflis province, a battalion adjutant and a company commander as part of the Elisavetpol in the 156th Infantry Regiment. In his book, dedicated to fellow soldiers, he spoke about the difficulties of war in the conditions of mountainous areas and a harsh climate, new tactical techniques for fighting (attack in chains), marching life and moods of lower ranks. The circumstances of the capture of Ardagan, Kars, the sieges of Erzurum are described in detail. Review of the book of 1887
