The book of an outstanding poet, philologist and essayist Olga Aleksandrovna Sedakova is compiled from a number of comments on Orthodox liturgical chants. Each of these comments is a kind of invitation to open the semantic space of a prayer tradition: the integrity of its symbolism, its "smart" imagery, its mosaic nature, its work with time and memory, with order and sound of words in the verse. In their amount, comments turn out to be a remarkable introduction into the general poetics of gymnography, which stored a "clear memory of some more integrity, about increased connectedness of everything with everything." For the first time, comments were published as they write in the journal “Neskuchny Garden "in 2013, in this publication they were expanded and revised. The book also includes the thoughts of A.V. Agapov about the sound system of two holiday stichera. The second part of the book is the poetic translations of liturgical texts made by Olga Sedakova.
