During the preparation of the publication, the editorial facilities preserved the features of the author’s style, the contractions, spelling and punctuation are brought into line with the norms of the modern Russian language, brief notes were added that reveal the meaning of obsolete words and expressions. The design of the book uses images from the archive of the Vvedensky Stavropigial Monastery of Optina of Deserts, the funds of the Russian State Library, the Russian State Historical Archive, the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Church and Archaeological Cabinet of the Moscow Theological Academy.
