The collection proposed to the readers collects letters of St. Filaret (Drozdov), Metropolitan of Moscow, to relatives, first published 135 years ago, in 1882, due to the fact that the first edition has long been bibliographic rarity, we considered it useful to reprint these letters that are a high example Orthodox attitude to their loved ones. Possessing a harmonious combination of such noble qualities as a highly educated mind, Orthodox spirituality and an extensive horizons, in letters to relatives, St. Filaret appears before us not only as an outstanding archpastor, but also as an attentive and caring son and brother. Thanks to these letters, we again have a great opportunity to hear through the centuries the living word of the saint
