The book proposed to the reader is a collection of letters from Bishop Alexy (Simansky), later the Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, to his spiritual mentor, Metropolitan Arseny (Stadnitsky) for 1917, 1918 and 1921. Despite the whole meaning of the personality of the Holy Patriarch Alexy I, little is written about him to the offensive. Unfortunately, the creative and epistolary heritage of many outstanding bishops was irrevocably lost during the mass repressions of the clergy, and the few memories published today belong to the main bishops in emigration. Unlike memoirs, there are significantly fewer inaccuracies caused by memory errors or the evolution of the author’s views. Letters of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy 1 are stored in the State Archive of the Russian Federation in the Foundation of Metropolitan Arseny (Stadnitsky) They are printed in chronological order, according to the rules of modern spelling and punctuation. The undercred parts of words are reproduced in square brackets. Publishers saved the author’s registration of letters. Letters are published for the first time
