The book presents an essay in the genre of philosophical and religious journalism, in which the author, through the prism of patristic creations, reflects on the spirituality of modern man.
There is a secular and religious understanding of spirituality, differently interpreting the nature of this transcendental state of the human person. In the secular world, this concept is blurred and interpreted too expandably, the content is invested in it, which is fundamentally different from how it is revealed in the works and lives of the saints, which showed a sample of life “in the spirit and truth”.
In secular sense, spirituality can be gained by engaging in science, art, increasing its intellectual and cultural level, making tourist trips to holy places. But all these classes are suitable only as a free application to spiritual life, because spirituality is a god -human state. Only the Holy Spirit gives the status of spirituality, without which any person, no matter what he does and no matter what outstanding abilities, is spiritually dead. And such spiritual dead, the author believes in both Russia and the world today the vast majority.
He came to this conclusion, studying patristic creations. The wisdom contained in them allowed him to see on his personal experience to make sure that he was clearly overpriced with modern people of his internal state, which largely explains the reason for the loss of their souls. But this is not a reason for sadness. Sorrow and suffering help to find the soul. They cleanse it from sinful scale and open the door to blessed eternity if the tests permitted from above are accepted without a murmur and with humility.
The book is designed, first of all, to people who are aware of their presentation before the Higher Promotion, think about the meaning of life and seek to find answers to the eternal questions of being through overcoming their imperfection in the path of religious and moral life
