Mikhail Alexandrovich Dyakonov (12/31/1855 (01/12/1856) - 10.01.1919) - one of the most prominent historians of law and state power of the Russian Middle Ages. His master"s dissertation "Power of the Moscow sovereigns" (1889) is still considered one of the main works on the history of political ideas and the theory of supreme power in ancient Russia. He was a well -deserved ordinary professor, member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, a member of the State Council for Election from the Academy of Sciences and Imperial Universities. His fundamental work "Essays on the social and state system of Ancient Russia until the end of the 17th century" withstood several publications during the life of the author and formed the basis of this book. The breadth of coverage and the depth of immersion in the theme make it necessary to everyone who is interested in the formation of power and the state in Russia since ancient times
