Information about the author
Chandra Mohan Jain (aka Acheria Rajinish, aka Bhagwan Sri Rajinish, aka Osho) - Indian mystic and spiritual teacher, who collected millions of followers around the world. Chandra was born in the house of his mother’s parents in a small village of Kuchvada, in the district of the Indian state of Madhya-Pradesh. Chandra was the eldest of the eleven children of the fabric merchant. Parents up to seven years old left the child in the care of grandparents, according to Osho himself, this had a considerable influence on his formation: his grandmother gave him almost unlimited freedom, not trying to control him with norms, prohibitions or attempts to educate.
At seven, Osho survived the death of his beloved grandfather. After that, the boy went to Gadarvar to his parents: it was difficult for him to suffer the departure of his loved one. And at the age of fifteen, Chandra again had to face death: his beloved cousin Shashi died of typhoid. It was these two tragedies that caused Osho incredible concern about deaths, this concern remained with him most of childhood and youth.
At school, the boy has established himself as a talented, although prone to rebellion, a student, among other things, he performed perfectly in discussion fights. In his youth, Chandra became an atheist, for some time he was fond of hypnosis and first collaborated with socialists, and then immediately with two militarized nationalist movements: the Indian National Army and the National Organization of Volunteers (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh).
In 1951, at the age of nineteen years, Osho entered the college of a cunning in Jabalpur. After a series of conflicts with teachers, he was forced to leave the institution and found a new refuge in himself in the same city, in the college of D.N. Jain.
Spiritual enlightenment overtook Osho on March 21, 1953 in Jabalpur. When Chandra went out at night to the Bhanvartal Garden, a certain Higher Power pointed to him one of the trees, meditation under him granted Osho spiritual wisdom.
Over the next years, Jain was a simple professor of philosophy, traveling around India with a lecture course. He was an ardent opponent of socialism, Mahatma Gandhi and a bureaucratic religious system. In addition, Osho actively preached a more free approach to human sexuality-this brought him the title of peculiar “sex guru” first in India, and then around the world.
In the seventies, mystic settled for some time in Bombay (now Mumbai), it was there that he began to actively gain students. The new movement became known as the Neo-Sanyasins. Chandra interpreted religious dogmas and works of mystics and philosophers around the world in a new way. In 1974, he moved to Puna and founded the new Ashram - into which many Western seekers of wisdom entered. In addition to the transformation methods in Ashram, a number of fundamentally new therapeutic techniques were also proposed, which were a logical continuation of the ideas of the “Human Potential Movement movement”, in the presentation for the Western listener. Very soon, Ashram was spoke all over India, and then abroad, the reason for success was the mild policy of the state in relation to such organizations and the oratory talent of Osho himself. By the end of the seventies, however, even the tolerant Indian government was no longer able to put up with the activity of the guru.
In 1981, Osho moved to the United States, his followers went for him. They settled in Oregon, in a newly created community, later called Rajnishpuram.
About a year later, the leadership of the community began problems with the local authorities: the main reason for conflicts was the right to land. Soon the guru was deported from the USA. Twenty -one country of the world refused him at the entrance. Having traveled for a while, Chandra returned to Poon.
Since the beginning of 1988, Osho concentrated mainly on Zen Buddhism. In December of the same year, Mistik said that he no longer wants to be called Bhagvan Sri Rajnish, it was then that the name Osho was born.
His health at this point has worsened significantly. The last time in the public, mystic spoke in April 1989, in the future at public meetings he only silently sat surrounded by his students.
On January 19, 1990, Osho died, at the time of death he was fifty -eight years old. According to the official conclusion, the cause of death was heart failure. The ashes of mysticism was buried in one of the main buildings of Ashram Puna. The epitaph read: “Osho. Never born. Never died. He only visited this planet from December 11, 1931 to January 19, 1990. ” At the moment, his Ashram is still functioning, now it is called Osho-Center of Meditation and Rest. The conversations of Osho, recorded from 1969 to 1989, were collected and published by followers in the form of several hundred books (more than 600 in total).
