In this book, Father John gathered the repentant prayers from the Triodi of the Lenten and Great Penitent Canon of St. Andrew Cretsky (shifted into Russian), as well as excerpts from the creations of ascetics of the 19th century, Bishop of Nizhny Novgorod Jeremiah (Solovyov) and the bishop of the former Chigirinsky Porfiry (Uspensky).
It was stored in a drawer of the desk, and Father John read it nightly for many years of his life.
