There are several personalities in the history of the church who become real lamps for their era. The radiance of these people permeates the whole church life of the whole Christian universe, all the ascetics and saints modern to them are closely related to them. But, on the other hand, the light of the spiritual genius of such people overcomes the framework of its age, and after many centuries for subsequent generations of Christians, this light remains no less living and close than for contemporaries. It is such a personality for his contemporaries, for us, living after sixteen centuries, that is St. John Chrysostom.
One and a half millennia, the Church with gratitude uses the priceless heritage of Chrysostom. For which the church is most grateful to St. John Chrysostom, for which she most often recalls him is the divine liturgy written by him. For more than sixteen centuries, the Church has been offering the words of prayers to God that Zlatoust folded and with whom he himself prayed. Together with the saint, we pray and ask the Lord to send the Holy Spirit on us and the holy gifts in order to be able to intentionally take communion of the pure body and honest blood of Christ.
In addition to the Goddocated prayers of the Divine Liturgy, Chrysostom left us explanations and interpretations of almost all the sacred scripture. Church legend tells that the Apostle Paul himself, being a saint, dictated to him the interpretation of his messages. And finally, the teachings and conversations of the saint, who received the nickname of Chrysostom as a wonderful gift, for all centuries are a model and standard of the pastoral word of edification and preaching.
