Rev. Nicodemus Svyatogorets (1749-1809) - Athos monk, spiritual writer, great Orthodox enlightener. They say that once he found on Athos in the library of the old monastery the ancient manuscript of an unknown old man. He was amazed at the work of the ascetic, the clarity and wisdom of his spiritual knowledge, and brought the book to the press. In it, as on notes, as in the steps of the stairs, the path of an Orthodox believer was painted, who not only wants to dream of salvation, but is trying to go through the path of Christ. The pages of the book clearly show the main problems that stand on the "Close Way", the detailed especially the subtlest temptations and, most importantly, specific advice and ways to win the spiritual battle.
